Minister Say Sam Al: Kep Province Must Focus on Achieving the Pentagon Strategic Vision 1st Phase to Support Tourism

His Excellency Say Sam Al, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, and Chairman of the Kep Provincial Government Working Group, stated that Kep is a tourism city, so relevant officials at all levels must focus on achieving the first phase of the Pentagon Strategic Vision, including supply of water, electricity, and roads, especially human resources, and technology must start from the full service of telecommunications.

The Deputy Prime Minister mentioned this in the meeting to review the results of the first nine months of 2024 and the direction of the Royal Government's working group to visit Kep province on October 21, 2024, at Kep Provincial Hall with the participation of Mr. Ouk Tha, Chairman of the Provincial Council, and Mr. Som Piseth, Governor of Kep Province.

He also stated that Kep is a province with potential in the tourism sector; therefore, all development projects in the province must focus on improving the beauty of the infrastructure. As a result, Kep province has gradually achieved many achievements that support tourism, such as 2,700 meters of beaches, Koh Tonsay tourism port both on land and on the island, the beachfront road connecting Kep resort to Angkol beach for more than 12 kilometers, landfills, the project to build cycling routes from Kep to Koh Kong province, improvements to the coastal islands, and national parks in the center of the city, which all have potential to boost the tourism in the province.

The Deputy Prime Minister also instructed the departments and specialized units to continue to perform their duties and responsibilities in providing services to the people, especially to promote adequate infrastructure, roads, electricity, and irrigation systems to reach rural areas.

On that occasion, H.E. Governor of Kep Province, Som Piseth, continued that through the Royal Government, which has implemented the policy of safe villages, communes, and sangkats in Kep Province, in the first nine months of 2024, the province has achieved better results.

At the same time, the province encourages people from all walks of life to work together to prevent and suppress all kinds of crimes at the local level, especially drug crimes, gangsters, human trafficking, robbery, and illegal gambling due to all the crimes that cause insecurity in the local area.

The H.E. Governor added that through the working group of the Royal Government in Kep province, the province continues to implement priority activities to join the Royal Government to achieve the vision of Cambodia as a high-middle-income country by 2030 and high-income by 2050 by mobilizing development partners to develop the province to increase employment and income for the people.
