5 SEZs in Sihanoukville attract over US$2.65 billion in investment

According to a report by the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration, there are currently 16 special economic zones in the entire Sihanoukville province, but only 5 are operational. In these 5 special economic zones, there are 284 operating factories and enterprises with a total investment capital of US$2.65 billion and a total workforce of 46,018 people.

In addition, there are 1,232 small and medium-sized enterprises and handicrafts in Sihanoukville with a total investment capital of over US$30 million, providing a total workforce of 6,172 people.

His Excellency Mang Sinet, Governor of Sihanoukville, said that the potential in Sihanoukville Province that can attract domestic and foreign investment includes an international airport, national roads, the Phnom Penh-Preah Sihanouk Expressway, railways, and a deep-water port, which the Royal Government is currently building a new deep-water container terminal phase 1 and plans to build additional deep-water container terminals, phase 2 and phase 3, allowing Cambodia's ports to have almost 100 percent of the world's cargo ship berthing capacity.

His Excellency said that the Royal Government has set in the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Land Management Plan Vision 2038 to prepare and develop Preah Sihanouk Province as the core city of the sustainable national economic pole in the coastal area of Cambodia, in promoting economic growth, developing business, trade, and tourism in a vibrant, smart, and modern manner. By developing a modern green city with vibrant creativity and the best living environment, a model multi-purpose special economic zone, an international financial center, and a national center, the most beautiful coastal resorts and islands in the world for accommodation, leisure, and recreation, as well as a center for supporting modern technology manufacturing industries, innovation, and international gateways and national logistics, with links to ASEAN and global markets, it will also provide abundant jobs to citizens.
