The news was given on March 21, 2025, on the occasion of Mr. Ieng Vengsun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, leading a delegation to inspect the site in preparation for the official inauguration ceremony of the Kampot International Tourist Port.

Speaking on the occasion of the inspection, the Secretary of State also instructed the working group in charge of all relevant departments to prepare, fulfill their respective duties clearly, and cooperate closely with all relevant parties to ensure that the event can be held smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

According to the MPWT announcement, the new Kampot International Tourist Port was built on an area of 4.25 hectares located in Chum Kriel village, Chum Kriel commune, Teuk Chhou district of Kampot province.

The port was jointly established by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and MPWT, and is currently operated by AZ Group, with a total investment of $9.27 million.

The port’s construction tooks nearly five years from August 2018 to June 2022, it was temporarily opened and began trial operations on December 12, 2024.

After completion, the Kampot International Tourism Port will connect the main waterway systems between Kampot Province, Preah Sihanouk Province, and Kep Province. It will also link the sea cruise route with tourist ports in Phu Quoc, Viet Nam, and various tourist ports in Thailand, facilitating easier docking for tourist ships.
