Compass Cambodia report, July 8th - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided a US$12 million loan to Stung Sen City in Kampong Thom Province for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant, sewage system, landfill, and other related infrastructure.
The project comprises the building of a wastewater treatment facility with a capacity to filter wastewater up to 2,500 cubic meters per day, a 39.2 km sewage pipe, a 17.1 km drainage network, and a 48,000 cubic meter landfill, according to a meeting with key officials held yesterday.
China First Metallurgical Group Ltd has already signed a construction contract with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. Meanwhile, the project will take three years to complete, starting in July 2020 and ending in July 2023.
During the meeting, Kampong Thom Governor HE Sok Lu also directed that relevant officials begin checking the sites and taking action against illegal land encroachment before the real building begins.
The governor also asked the corporation to concentrate on and expedite the drainage system's construction to assist minimize floods during the rainy season.
