Compass Cambodia report, August 6 - According to a recent study by the Credit Bureau Cambodia, the number of mortgage loan applications in the second quarter of 2021 fell by 32%, while the total loan value fell by 17%, compared to the first quarter of the same year (CBC).
According to the same study, 146,380 mortgage loan applications were submitted in June 2021, accounting for 11.26 percent of the total 1.3 million loan applications.
Meanwhile, the mortgage was valued at US$5.6 billion in June 2021, or 52.47 percent of the total loan amount.
The data also disclosed the overall consumer credit application, which similarly declined by 34 percent q-o-q.
The building and real estate sectors generally are still under pressure from the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to a recent report from the National Bank of Cambodia, the number of building projects, investment value, and total area allowed in H1 2021 declined by 11.4 percent, 34.3 percent, and 29.9 percent, respectively, compared to the same time last year.
