Compass Cambodia report, August 19～Chhuon Von, Director General of the General Department of Land Transport of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, chaired a meeting with Korean counterpart regarding the master plan for intelligent transportation system for Cambodia under the support of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea via remote video system, with the participation of relevant experts.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry, the Director General expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Korea, especially the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea and the Korea Research Center for their support in ITS planning for Cambodia. ''Today, modern technology really gives us the opportunity to develop the transportation sector, including electricity energy vehicle is in use today," he added.
Please be informed that: The Republic of Korea has approved the project of intelligent transportation system under the guise of Official Development Assistance (Official Development Assistance) to help improve the Cambodian transport sector with the cooperation of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia,Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea and the Korea Overseas Construction Association.
This Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is an advanced technology that can be used to manage the road network, facilitate the management and control of transportation in real time, collect and use traffic information in real time without harming the environment and a system to collect data and information to analyze and help the traffic flow smoothly.
The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2022 and will be piloted in 2023 at Cambodia's new airport, satellite city around Phnom Penh and along major national roads such as: National Road 1, National Road 4 and Road National No. 5, despite being in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic.
