Sihanoukville: Epidemic is Largely Under Control, Many Businesses Have Been Permitted to Open

Compass Cambodia report, September 3 - The epidemic situation in Sihanoukville has recently improved, and the city council has decided to permit the reopening of a number of businesses in order to boost local economic development.

On September 2, Provincial Department of Tourism director Taing Sochet Kresna told local media that the epidemic in Sihanoukville had been controlled and eased to some extent, based on guidelines from the provincial administration and the Ministry of Tourism. Open to meet the dietary needs of tourists and to support the province's economic development.

Catering establishments can allow tourists to eat in their restaurants, but restaurant owners and employees must be vaccinated with two doses of vaccine, according to him. In addition, to verify that the catering establishment is free of diseases, owners and employees must conduct sampling and testing twice a month, in order to ensure the safety of tourists and diners.

He added that all catering businesses must carefully follow the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Tourism's epidemic prevention regulations, and violators will be ordered to suspend business.

The Ministry of Tourism issued instructions to some tourism establishments on September 1 to adapt to a new business regulations, and approved business establishments such as tourist accommodation, catering, resorts, and community tourism.
