Compass Cambodia report - In a meeting of the local airline Sky Angkor Airline representatives, the Minister of Tourism Thong Khon made a remark on the afternoon of 21 January to prepare for the reopen of international tourist flights.
The Cambodian government is soon to reopen for international tourists who have been vaccinated against the new virus, Minister Thong Khon pointed. He said that international tourists arriving in Cambodia only have to be quarantined for 7 days in specific tourist areas or destinations, as Prime Minister Hun Sen said previously.
Minister Thong Khon also said the pandemic remains a major problem in the world. The government of Cambodia has however launched a tourism development roadmap during and after the epidemic and a comprehensive development scheme for the Provinces of Mondulkiri and Siem Reap to strongly promote the rapid recovery of the tourism industry. The Ministry also formulated and submitted a strategic plan document to the Royal Government for approval on the opening of safe tourism during the epidemic.
The company CEO returned immediately to South Korea and cooperated with South Korean and Chinese traveling companies to promote tourists to Cambodia, especially South Korea, China, according to Koo Taeoh, General Manager of the airline's Sky Angkor Airlines. He added that investing in more new projects for tourism products in Angkor, Siem Reap, will attract tourists from all over Cambodia. The airline has direct flights from Cambodia to many provinces in China and direct flights to Vietnam, Japan, South Korea and India.
