『Ministry announces the official implementation of Kep Tourism Development Master Plan』
The Master Plan for Tourism Development of Kep Province 2023-2035 was officially launched on August 7, 2023 under the presence of H.E Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, accompanied by the Kep Provincial Administration.
Through this plan, the Ministry of Tourism believes that it will be an important vision for turning Kep into a high-end luxury tourist destination.
H.E Thong Khon stated that the official implementation of the Kep Tourism Development Master Plan is to turn Kep into a high-quality and attractive tourist destination that ensures high competitiveness in the region and the world in the future.
Strategically, Kep has been identified as four tourism development poles, including: 1, The old Kep city tourism pole turns into a modern city in a world-class luxury park. 2, Angkol tourism pole is a modern natural beach tourism area. 3, Phnom Vor tourism pole turns into an agro-tourism area and historical eco-tourism. 4, the archipelago tourism pole turns into a luxury island tourism destination.
『Three main ministries join forces to boost operations at Kampot tourist port』
The Ministry of Economy and Finance, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Ministry of Tourism, is planning to hold a consultative workshop with investors on “Implementation of Operations and Maintenance under the Public-Private Partnership Mechanism” which will take place on August 17, 2023 at Hyatt Regency Hotel Phnom Penh and via video conference.
This strategic workshop will convene an esteemed audience, including a diverse spectrum of private sector entities ranging from local and regional tourism port operators to international shipping companies and private investment firms. The primary objective is to collectively deliberate upon the Kampot tourism port development initiative, a move designed to not only catalyze the coastal tourism sector in Kampot and Kep but also establish seamless connections between Cambodia’s mainland and the alluring Koh Tral and the surrounding archipelago.
As a prelude to this monumental session, attendees can anticipate a comprehensive dissemination of project particulars, market insights, technical requisites, operational prerequisites, bidding conditions, and a meticulous timeline that frames the development trajectory of the Kampot Tourism Port project.
It remains imperative to recall that the construction of the Kampot Provincial Tourism Port was successfully concluded on June 30, 2022. With an impressive total construction outlay of approximately $9.27 million, this transformative project was made possible through a collaborative budget contribution shared between the Asian Development Bank and the Royal Government of Cambodia.
