In 2023, Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone will have achieved exports and imports worth about $3.662 billion. This is according to the report released by the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone on January 29, 2024.
It should be noted that the export-import trade volume in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone alone absorbed up to 7.18% of the total trade volume nationwide, amounting to $46.83 billion.
According to the report, the trade volume in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone in 2023 will increase to 34.86% compared to 2022.
Meanwhile, Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone has attracted 12 new investment companies in 2023, bringing the total to 180 companies from around the world and creating about 30,000 jobs.
In 2023, Cambodia's exports to international markets reached more than $22.65 billion, an increase of 1.8% compared to 2022, which was only $22.25 billion, according to the report of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia (GDCE).
In particular, imports of goods in 2023 amounted to $24.18 billion, down 5% from 2022, which was only $25.46 billion. The total international trade volume in 2023 was about $46.83 billion, down 1.9% from $47.71 billion in 2022. The trade deficit in 2023 was about $1.54 billion, down from $3.21 billion in 2022.
