The Japanese Government has provided a loan of 7,205 million yen (approximately US$ 52.6 million) for the implementation of the “National Road No. 5 Rehabilitate and Upgrade Project on the Prek Kdam-Thla Mam Road Phase 4”.
The loan was provided by the signing of an exchange of letters and related documents by HE Prak Sokhon, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and HE UENO Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia on 24 May 2023.
The project to improve the southern section of National Road No. 5 (Prek Kdam-Thla Mam) was opened to traffic on both sides in January, at a cost of more than US$260 million.
In addition to the loan for the national highway, Japan has also provided 366 million yen (approximately US$ 2.67 million) for the implementation of the “Human Resource Development Scholarship Project”.
