The ambitious project to construct a bridge spanning the Bassac River, linking Chak Angre Krom to Prek Pra, has surpassed expectations by achieving a remarkable 7.5% progress in just two months, surpassing the planned timeline by 0.6%.
This significant milestone, achieved ahead of schedule, underscores the swift and efficient progress of the construction efforts since its commencement on February 19, as highlighted in an update shared on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on April 19, 2024.
The construction progress to date showcases commendable achievements, with the completion of 24 out of the planned 9th pillar, concrete work reaching 100% completion, and ongoing installation of templates. Additionally, significant strides have been made with the 10th pillar of the 9th pillar, with 12 pillars already in place and four pillars successfully drilled.
Please be reminded that the bridge boasts a total length of 1,650 meters and comprises a bridge length of 845.70 meters and a road width of 27 meters, along with a road connecting the bridge length of 804.30 meters and a width of 27 meters. Constructed by Shanghai Construction Company under the project consultancy of Guangzhou Wanan, this monumental infrastructure endeavor has been made possible through a $60.2 million investment concessional loan from the Chinese government in collaboration with the royal government of Cambodia to deal with the impact of clearing landmines, unexploded ordnance, and other taxes.
