As of the beginning of July 2024, the project to build and upgrade the quality of National Road No. 48 with a total length of 148 kilometers from the intersection of National Road No. 4 to Khemarak Phoumin City, Koh Kong Province, has achieved 62.11%. This was confirmed by His Excellency Phorn Rim, Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, on July 9, 2024.
He continued that at present, the working team is busy working on AC ironing and Base Course work as much as possible, as well as Structure work to have AC ironing completed in the coming dry season in 2025.
At the same time, the Ministry is asking for high understanding and tolerance from the people, travelers, and people living on both sides of the road that is being built and improving the quality. Some sections of the road need to be improved and are muddy, difficult to travel, and disrupt daily business activities during the rainy season, especially at the Cham Naot Tapon at km No. 140+300-140+700 and 3 antenna poles at km No. 137-140.
The construction team always intervenes and temporarily resolves to facilitate the movement of people and avoid accidents due to any slippery cause.
Please be informed that the construction of National Road No. 48 started on January 3, 2022, with a total budget of more than 100 million dollars. The budget is under concessional financing from the Republic of Korea.
