According to a recent report from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, HE Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Indonesia received the courtesy of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, HE Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, led a delegation from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to visit the Republic of Indonesia from September 18 to 21, 2019 to strengthen and expand cooperation in transport infrastructure, Land road, Rail road , Water and Port between Cambodia and Indonesian rupiah.
At the Working Dinner on September 18, 2019, the HE of transport ministers of the two countries recognized the potential for cooperation in transport infrastructure of both countries on a bilateral, regional and global scale.
With the experience of Indonesia's rail investment and trade with Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Bangladesh and Africa, the Minister of transportation expressed his intention to expand business and investment in the railway and port sector in Cambodia because Indonesia has a state-owned factory which make huge made of iron cabinets and locomotives and accessories allow the upgrade and construction of the railway. As for the port, Indonesia has the largest state-owned factories which make ships, equipment, and port facilities.
On the occasion, HE Sun Chanthol also presented plans to upgrade Cambodia's existing railway and the construction of new railways as well as the development of Cambodia's port. The Minister welcomed Indonesia's cooperation and investment in Cambodia and encouraged the Indonesian side to study and assess investment in Cambodia. The two sides also discussed and exchanged experiences on a number of related fields, including rice trade.
He urged the Indonesian government to reconsider the purchase of rice from Cambodia, which both sides signed in 2012. The Indonesian Transport Minister has pledged to bring the Senior Minister's request to the Ministry for consideration.(This news came from Business-Cambodia.com)
