Technical Study of Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway Project Completed

H.E. So Victor, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, chaired a meeting to review and discuss the report on the results of the technical study of the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway Infrastructure Project, presented by China Railway International Group. Co., Ltd with the participation of senior officials of relevant ministries and institutions on September 7, 2020 at the Ministry.

The technical meeting was held to listen to the presentation of China Railway International Group Co., Ltd on the report on the technical study results on the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway Infrastructure Project , as well as a forum for questioning, comments, suggestions and solutions from stakeholders to make this report comprehensive.

According to the company's study report, the road construction project has three options based on geographical location and impact, the road is designed for a maximum speed of 120 km per hour in accordance with the MoU between Cambodia and Vietnam.

His Excellency the Secretary of State said that the Ministry as well as the Royal Government need to study thoroughly on these three road options before deciding which road to choose, especially the Ministry is waiting for the results of the financial study report from the company in mid-October 2020 to take as a basis for decision.

In addition, the Secretary of State said that the choice of any option must focus on the framework of social, economic and budget for construction.

The Secretary of State expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the presentations of all relevant companies and institutions that provided the most important and valuable input for the preparation of the report on the results of the technical project study of Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway project is more comprehensive.

The Secretary of State requested the parties and relevant institutions to continue to attend the monthly meeting to review the progress of the project to provide cooperation and help solve some problems that the company can not solve, to make the project run smoothly.(This news came from MPWT)
