The Sihanoukville Provincial Administration said that the work of paving 34 roads in Sihanoukville will begin in December and is scheduled to be completed before the upcoming Khmer New Year to turn this province into a pole for sustainable national development.
Kheang Phearum, spokesman for Sihanoukville Provincial Hall, told National Radio of Cambodia that the construction of all 34 roads in Sihanoukville was now nearing completion, with the paving project scheduled to begin in December 2020. More than 90% of the granite paving was completed, 75% of the pavement was paved for pedestrian construction, more than 90% was for public lighting poles, more than 60% was for planting trees and flowers, and more than 90% was for drainage. Meanwhile, traffic signs and security cameras are gradually being developed.
He added that the construction of infrastructure in Sihanoukville will make the province more prosperous, such as the development of modern cities and the establishment of a multi-purpose special economic zone, the national growth center, the national logistics center and a modern technology industrial center.
He continued that the construction of this road is the economic arteries of Sihanoukville, combined with the construction of high-standard, luxury roads, the construction of intelligent public lighting parks, security cameras and other improvements which facilitates the transportation of people traveling in the hope of attracting national and international tourists as well as local and foreign investors to invest more in this beautiful coastal province.
It should be noted that the development of road infrastructure in the city of Sihanoukville has been rebuilt after being completely damaged by the rapid development and floods in the past, this is another turning point in history of Sihanoukville like never have before in the construction of such roads throughout the city. The 34 city roads in Sihanoukville have a total length of more than 82 kilometers.
