MOU intent to boost logistics to improve China-Cambodia trade and investment

Logistics Business Association and European Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) on improving trade investment and logistics between China and Cambodia on November 20, 2020 to promote investment, international trade and the logistic sector while signing ceremony was organized through online video conference.

The main goal of the MOU is to deepen communication between Chinese and Cambodian investors. What the Chinese side wants is the guidance on importing goods from China to Cambodia, and the Logistics Business Association also wants guidance on importing goods from Cambodia to China. This was confirmed by Chea Chandara, President of the Logistics Business Association told reporters.

He said that in the post Covid-19 , both sides want to lead a group of people who want to invest in China or buy goods from China can go directly to the factory in China, while the Chinese side also does in this way, it means those who want to invest in Cambodia or want to buy goods from Cambodia can come directly to the factory. This MoU is also a bridge for arranging meetings between investors of the two countries to discuss investment work. According to Chandara, since the Covid-19 starts, the transportation sector has declined. Because when goods are exported, some countries do not accept them. Another problem is those who have already ordered and lack accessories. However, since the situation of Covid-19 in Cambodia has decreased, logistic has also started to increase.

The president of the Logistic Business Association also advised, as a shipping expert, that those who want to order goods from abroad should try to communicate clearly between buyers and sellers, because he sees that after Covid -19 starts, flights to other countries to see the goods directly are not available. This makes the transaction can be affected or fraudulent, and the actual case has also occurred.
