The Ministry of Health will begin disclosing the identity of the persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in order to track down as soon as possible those coming in contact with them.

The move was made at the agreement of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, according to a press release of the Ministry of Health released this evening.

In a voice clip shared this evening, the Premier explained that it is not time to think about individual rights, but the right to live. “We have already disseminated the identity of those who need to be quarantined such as National Assembly President Samdech Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, his family members, and other MPs, Deputy Prime Ministers Samdech Kralahom and H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, and other ministers,” he said.

Besides, all passengers entering Cambodia are required to conduct full 14-day quarantine and to hold a coronavirus-free Health Certificate issued by the health authorities of their respective countries with 72 hours before their departure.

The Sponsorship Mechanism for all foreign passengers who are investors, businesspersons, company staff, experts and technicians must be postponed temporarily until the COVID-19 situation eases, added the same source.

The press release also pointed out the participation of Samdech Techo Voluntary Medical Team in the specimen collection and community education, dissemination, and training.

The new measures, to come into effect from Dec. 12 onwards, were taken after six more COVID-19 cases related to the Nov. 28 Community Event (first community outbreak) were reported this afternoon at Pedro Store on Sihanouk Blvd. in Phnom Penh.

The total confirmed cases in Cambodia now rose to 341, including 29 cases of the Nov. 28 Community Event. Of them, 304 have been successfully recovered, with no fatal case.
