With the active construction process continuing despite the global epidemic crisis, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Development Project increased attention is being paid to strengthening the merits, with a group of professional officials and representatives of construction companies inspecting regularly.
Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Dr. Yit Bonna, on December 18, 2020, continued to inspect the construction work of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway to ensure quality according to the correct technical standards and can be achieved according to the set plan.
"So far, as a result of the construction of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway project, more than 27 percent has been achieved," he said. "This road is being implemented by CPEC, which has been continuing to pour the foundation of the road using Cement Stabilize Base, to ensure that the standards of quality and techniques are correct."
This expressway project has a total length of more than 190 kilometers, connecting Village 1, Sangkat Samrong Krom, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh to Village 1, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville, passing through 8.30 km in Phnom Penh, about 9.10 km in Kandal , 80.80 km in Kampong Speu, 1.92 km in Koh Kong, and 89.89 km in Preah Sihanouk.
According to the expressway project, the road width will be 24.5 meters and the concrete pavement (AC) with 10 cm thick, with traffic lanes divided into 4 lanes which allows all types of vehicles to drive at speeds of up to 100 km per hour and some places can drive at speeds up to 120 kilometers per hour.
