IBIS Rice Unit, a non-profit group with 1,000 Cambodian Farmers' Association, is a Sustainable New Product Winner at the 2019 International Sustainable Food Awards, hosted by the team From Ecovia Intelligence.
The award focuses on food operators promoting sustainable industry.
IBIS buys Rumduol rice from nearly 50 percent of the market. As a change of farmers in Dangrek Village, do not participate in the destruction of wildlife . This rice is recognized in organic conforms to European and US standards.
According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, nearly 171,000 tons of rice were exported from Cambodia in the first quarter of this year. The top export destinations are China with over 75,000 tons and the EU with over 51,000 tons. Exports of the European Union fell this year due to the introduction of European grades that came into effect this year.
