Two Chinese Firms to Invest in PPSEZ Despite the Pandemic

Two new Chinese firms plan to build electronic manufacturing factories in Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ), despite the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

According to Phnom Penh SEZ Facebook’s post last week, the pandemic has affected various sectors, especially the supply chain in manufacturing companies. Businesses in PPEZ have also been affected. However, two large firms have recently decided to invest in PPSEZ.

The two firms are SEIKAWA (Cambodia) Technology Co., Ltd, a manufacturer of plastic parts for electrical and electronic devices, and WCFO (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of fibre optic devices exporting to Japan and the United States.

“This company is also looking at Cambodia as a new production base due to the fact that the labour is young, trainable and affordable, and the preferential treatment to Cambodia from developed countries, especially in the situation of ongoing US-China trade issue,” read the post.

According to Phnom Penh Post, PPSEZ received over US$1 billion in trade volume and exported over US$2 billion worth of goods last year.(This news came from Construction-Property.com)
