China's aid to build a large-scale venue- National Olympic Stadium

The National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, started in 1963 and officially opened in 1964. It is an important venue built by the Chinese aid team for large-scale sports event hold in Cambodia. In the following decades, the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh has become the first choice, or the only option, for large-scale national sports events or important events. The Olympic Stadium is a comprehensive stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, which can accommodate 50,000 people and can be expanded to 80,000 people.

Nearly 50 years later, another Cambodian National Gymnasium built by China has been built and is expected to be completed in 2022 to support Cambodia in hosting the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. The stadium is located in the northeast suburb of Phnom Penh, about 15 kilometers from the city center, and is the main sports ground of the National Stadium complex planned by the Cambodian government. The project design plan has a total construction area of approximately 82,400 square meters and can accommodate 60,000 people. The total investment is expected to be approximately RMB 1.1 billion.
