Cambodia Compass report, 28th May - Despite not reaching the dizzying heights of more than 900 a few weeks ago, Cambodia's Covid-19 toll has continued to rise gradually.
However, the daily total of new cases detected is now outnumbering the number of recoveries, putting additional strain on an already overburdened health-care system that has seen little respite since the infamous February 20 Community Event, which resulted in 200 deaths in three months and over 27,000 infections since the third community outbreak in Cambodia was first made public.
The Ministry of Health announced today that 649 new Covid-19 cases have been discovered, with 626 people treated and 4 fatalities.
Cambodia had detected a total of 27,638 persons infected with Covid-19 as of May 27, compared to about 500 for the entire year of 2020.
20,398 people have been cured, while 194 people have died.
