The Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway project is Cambodia's third expressway project after the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway and the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway. Currently, the new expressway project is studying the details by Chinese Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) before opening the construction site.
According to the study, the third expressway project will pass through six provinces, including Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, and Banteay Meanchey, with a length of more than 400 kilometers. The project starts in Phnom Penh and ends in Poipet, Banteay Meanchey (Cambodia-Thailand border).
According to H.E. Phorn Rim, Spokeperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, on the official Facebook page on January 25, 2024, the project to build the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway is under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
His Excellency continued, "According to the study plan, the expressway connecting Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet, with a total length of about 420 kilometers, is the starting point north of the third ring road of Phnom Penh and the ending point in Poipet city (Cambodian-Thai border) through Phnom Penh 3 kilometers, Kandal province 18 kilometers, Kampong Cham province 43 kilometers, Kampong Thom province 131 kilometers, Siem Reap province 130 kilometers, and Banteay Meanchey province 95 kilometers."
Please be informed that, according to the new expressway construction project, it will be divided into two phases. The first phase, Phnom Penh-Siem Reap, will open the construction site first, and the second phase, Siem Reap-Poipet, will open the construction site later.
