Techo Takhmao International Airport, located in Takhmao City, Kandal Province, and Takeo Province, is scheduled to be completed in the first phase by the end of 2024 before being officially launched in mid-2025.
On the occasion of inspecting the progress of the construction project of Techo Takhmao International Airport under the presidency of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on March 12, H.E. Mao Havannall said, "As of February 21, 2024, the construction of the first phase of Techo Takhmao International Airport 4F level achieved about 66.1% and spent a total of $961 million of the total investment of $1.5 billion."
Detailed progress of the first phase of the Techo Takhmao International Airport 4F construction development project is provided by the following:
● The Passenger Terminal Building reached 56.8%, scheduled to be completed by December 2024
● The Flight Infrastructure reached 64.4%, scheduled to be completed by July 2024,
● The Air Traffic Control Tower achieved 100% and was completed in January 2024,
● The Power Supply Centers reach 76.8% and are scheduled to be completed by April 2024,
● The connection of Water and Electricity to Techo Takhmao International Airport reached 85%, scheduled to be completed in April 2024,
● Construction-Buildings to support air operations and land operations reached 60%, scheduled for completion in June 2024.
It should be noted that the Techo Takhmao International Airport project has been authorized by the Royal Government to CAIC, a joint venture between the Royal Government of Cambodia and OCIC, to build and develop Techo Takhmao International Airport (New Phnom Penh International Airport) in Kandal and Takeo provinces, covering 2,600 hectares and located more than 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh. Airport construction progress began on June 16, 2020.
Techo Takhmao International Airport, a 4F level, is a large airport that can absorb and receive long-haul transcontinental flights that can accommodate giant aircraft up to the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800. The investment company has ambitions to develop this new airport into the largest and most modern airport in Asia.
