Cambodia Compass report, 18th May - According to the official Facebook page of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway on May 17, the US$2 billion Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway project has taken another step forward, with the first flyover taking shape.
The team has already completed the installation of girder blocks for this flyover, marking yet another significant milestone in the project. This flyover can be used by drivers to alter traffic directions until it is completed.
Pavement construction, in addition to the flyover, is already underway. The road is being paved with ATB-25, a tough asphalt concrete, and work on the actual pavement began in March after the engineers completed the test section.
Despite the lockdowns, the project has been running smoothly, according to Heang Sotheayuth, a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. The building is about 49 percent complete as of early May.
The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway development project started on March 22, 2019. Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd. is building the 190-kilometer route, which will take 48 months to complete.
