General Science of China will construct a €166 million tire manufacturing in Cambodia

Cambodia Compass report, 8th June - General Science Technology stated on June 3 that it will develop a €166 million (1.3 billion yuan) plant in Cambodia with a capacity to produce 6 million passenger car tires per year.

The factory, which will be built in the Sihanoukville special economic zone in southwest Cambodia, will take 15 months to build and will begin operations in September 2022.

According to General Science, once fully operational, the plant will create approximately 800 new employment and earn an average annual net profit of €21 million on sales of over €174 million.

The decision to establish the factory came as a result of the Cambodian government's efforts to boost the country's natural rubber industry, according to the business.

The country is also forming a rubber industry association to assure stable production and exports, according to the report.

The new factory is the latest in Wuxi-based General Science's history of deliberate development efforts.

The company launched its first foreign tire facility in Thailand last year, and by the fourth quarter of 2021, it expects to produce 1 million truck and bus tires and 6 million passenger vehicle tires.
