Compass Cambodia report, August 11 - The building site for Cambodia's first expressway, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, featured two smart technologies: Impressive Motor Grader GCS System and Automatic & Precise 3D Paving.
Smart Construction Site 1: Impressive Motor Grader GCS System. An automate machine replaces a surveyor, a recorder, a pile driver. The project introduces automatic grader equipment to pave the road bed, which is more accurate and efficient than manual leveling, and control the construction data in real time.
Smart Construction Site 2: Automatic & Precise 3D Paving. 3D paver is mainly used for paving cement stabilized sub-base and asphalt pavement. By adding an automatic control system on the original paver, 3D paver saves manpower and time, compared with manual measurement and marking of elevation.
The Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway was 55 percent complete in June, six months ahead of schedule, and is expected to be finished in September 2022. The 190-kilometer-long expressway connects Sangkat Samrong Krom, Khan Por Senchey in Phnom Penh and Sangkat 3 in Sihanoukville. China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) is building the project through Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd. for a total cost of US$2 billion.
