Cambodia Compass report, 26th May - Bharat Biotech International, a vaccine innovator, has applied for approval in more than 60 countries, including the United States, Brazil, and Hungary, for its indigenously produced Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin.
The vaccine maker said in a statement on Tuesday evening that it had received emergency use authorizations from 13 countries so far, with more on the way.
Mexico, the Philippines, Iran, Paraguay, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Guyana, Venezuela, Botswana, and Zimbabwe are among the countries that have issued emergency use licenses (EUL).
Bharat Biotech has also submitted an EUL application to the World Health Organization (WHO), with regulatory approvals expected in the July-September quarter.
Bharat Biotech's head of business growth and international advocacy, Raches Ella, told a conference of women entrepreneurs in Hyderabad on Saturday that the vaccine maker was pursuing pre-qualification approvals from the WHO for Covaxin. “In the past, they (WHO) approved a few of our products. Covaxin is expected to be approved by the end of Q3 or Q4.”
