Aeon Company Consider to Build The Fourth Shopping Mall in Phnom Penh

The Aeon Mall (Cambodia) Co., Ltd is considering the possibility of coming up with Aeon Mall 4 in Kamboul district of Phnom Penh.

According to the recent meeting between Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and Tsuboya Masayuki, Managing Director of Aeon Mall (Cambodia) Co., Ltd

The meeting was primarily for the purpose of Aeon representatives’ requesting guidance from the Deputy Prime Minister regarding the investment work of Aeon Mall in Cambodia. A project review officer of the CDC has said that the Aeon Mall company is now studying with the CDC the possibility of investing in a fourth Aeon Mall, (Aeon Mall 4), to be located in Kamboul district of Phnom Penh.

Aeon Mall (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. has already invested close to $706 million in the construction of three supermarket complexes in Cambodia.

The first of these sizable retail venue developments, Aeon Mall Phnom Penh, located in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district, was the nation’s first experience with the international-standard mall brand when it opened its doors in June 2014. The project’s construction was valued at close to $205 million.

In recent expansions completed in 2023, Aeon 1 has also added 30 more stores to its ground floor to meet the demands of current and incoming retailers, along with additional parking facilities.

The second Aeon Mall offering came in May 2018, with the grand opening of the $120 million, Aeon Mall Sen Sok City, located in Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district.

The third and largest Aeon Mall opened in Phnom Penh’s southern Meanchey District in April of last year, situated on Hun Sen Boulevard. Outweighing the first two malls’ values, Aeon Mall Mean Chey had a total investment value close to $290 million.

The third mall installment also marked the confidence of the developer, spanning a 1.74 hectare site about eight kilometers from downtown Phnom Penh, becoming the city’s largest and most diverse mall to date.

It should be mentioned that, Aeon Mall (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Aeon Mall Co., Ltd., first founded in 1911 in Chiba, Japan. The internationally renowned chain has a total of 203 supermarkets in 14 different countries worldwide. In 2021, Aeon was reported to be the 17th largest retailer in the world in terms of revenue.
