The Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway project will be completed in the middle of 2024 before proceeding to the upcoming construction site. This is according to the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport yesterday.
On February 27, 2024, H.E. Leng Thorn Yuthea, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Project Director, chaired a meeting with the Under Secretary of State, General Director of the relevant departments, and representatives of the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
The purpose of this meeting was to gather opinions as well as input and additional recommendations for the company to review and revise, especially in the first phase of the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway project, after the Ministry receives the report on the feasibility study to ensure the implementation of the project is improved.
On that occasion, the Secretary of State stated that the Ministry will organize meetings with relevant authorities, especially the Apsara Authority, to study the impact and provide feedback on the study of detouring city roads.
According to the MPWT, CRBC plans to finalize the draft construction engineering feasibility study project in February 2024 and then prepare to complete the project feasibility study (FS) and submit it to the Royal Government for review in early June 2024. For the second phase, Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway will complete the study in March 2024 after completing the draft project to study the technical feasibility of engineering design and submit it to the Ministry for review and revision until the end of May 2024.
Please be informed that the third expressway project is about 420 kilometers long and passes through 6 capital and provinces, including Phnom Penh 3 kilometers, Kandal Province 18 kilometers, Kampong Cham Province 43 kilometers, Kampong Thom Province 131 kilometers, Siem Reap Province 130 kilometers, and Banteay Meanchey Province 95 kilometers. This project is separated into two phases. The first phase of Phnom Penh-Siem Reap will open the construction site first. Then, the second phase of Siem Reap-Poipet construction site will open later.
