Techo Takmao International Airport is nearly 76% complete

Techo Takmao International Airport Level 4F has completed the first phase of construction (about 75.8%) and is scheduled to start operations in the first half of 2025. This was confirmed by H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.

This statement was made on the occasion of H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall presiding over the program of leading representatives of national and international airlines as well as representatives of air transport support companies to visit and learn about the construction progress of the Techo Takmao International Airport on June 6, 2024.

This visit is organized for the second time to allow all company operators to be ready to serve and provide related services when Techo International Airport is completed and operational starts as planned in the first half of 2025.

The visit also aims to provide insights into the latest developments in the construction of the great and international structure of the Cambodian kids born of the wisdom and wise leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and President of the Senate, and to continue to apply the prudent wisdom of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Speaking at the event, H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall stated, "The company has made great efforts and tried its best to complete the construction as soon as possible as planned. As of June 1, 2024, the construction of the first phase of Techo International Airport 4F has reached about 75.8%."

He said that the project to build the Techo International Airport here under an investment of 1,500 million dollars is a joint venture between the state and the private sector; the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation has a 10% stake in the 100% stake.

He also said that the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation, as a shareholder, is also extremely proud when the construction project is completed as planned and launched profitably, which helps drive the growth of Cambodia's air transport.

At the same time, the SSCA Minister said that from January to April 2024, Cambodia received more than 2 million air passengers, an increase of 25% compared to the same period in 2023, when there would be just over 1.6 million people.

From these figures, H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall can generally say that air transport activities in Cambodia have gradually recovered after the COVID-19 crisis and are proudly moving forward.

Please note that the Techo International Airport project has been authorized by the Royal Government to CAIC, a joint venture between the Royal Government of Cambodia and OCIC to build and develop Techo International Airport (New International Airport) in Kandal and Takeo provinces, covering a 2,600-hectare site located more than 20 kilometers south of Phnom Penh. Construction of the airport began on June 16, 2020.

Techo Takmao International Airport 4F is a large airport that can absorb and receive long-haul flights across the continent and can accommodate giant aircraft up to the Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 747-800. The investment company has ambitions to develop the new airport into the largest and most modern airport in Asia.
