Cambodia is studying plans for the development of Koh Rong Samloem business district and resort, and officials in Sihanouk are currently assessing the environmental and social impact of the project.
The Koh Rong Samloem Resort and Business District Project is located on 1066 hectares of land in Koh Rong Samloem District, Sihanouk City. Koh Rong Island is 25 kilometres from the coast of Sihanouk, covering an area of 78 square kilometres and about 10 kilometres in length.
Sihanouk is one of the most developed provinces after Siem Reap. At present, 137 projects have been invested, with a total investment of 9.444 billion US dollars. At present, 95 projects have been put into operation, with an investment capital of 6.744 billion US dollars. These include five-star hotels, apartments, ports, supermarkets, special economic zones and other development projects, making Sihanouk a fast-growing province beyond expectations.
