Phnom Penh is located in the Delta Zone between the Mekong, Baishi and Tonlisa rivers. It covers an area of 678.46 square kilometers and has a total population of about 1.5 million. It is Cambodia's political, economic, cultural and international exchange center.

Phnom Penh was rated by the World Bank as one of the fastest growing cities in Southeast Asia in January 2015, playing a vital role in the rapid economic development of Cambodia. In recent years, based on the excellent investment environment and its own development potential, Phnom Penh, the capital, has been favored by foreign investors and has become a popular investment destination in Southeast Asia. The rapid development of Phnom Penh's construction industry, light industry and service industry has not only changed the urban landscape, but also created many employment opportunities for citizens. Phnom Penh Port is the second largest port in China. In 2017, the cargo throughput of Phnom Penh Port reached 2.757 million tons, accounting for 39% of the national throughput. In 2006, the Cambodian government established the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone, which mainly includes garment and shoes making, food or agricultural products processing, mechanical and electrical industries. There are about 80 enterprises stationed, with more than 15,000 employees.

Known as the "Pearl of Southeast Asia", Phnom Penh is Cambodia's third largest tourist city after Siem Reap and Sihanouk Port. It has won the title of "the best destination of global tourism" and "the capital of global tourism and culture". The scenic spots in Phnom Penh contain a strong historical and cultural flavor. The magnificent and magnificent buildings of the palace are magnificent and dazzling. The precious collection of the National Museum records the prosperity of Khmer civilization. The independent monument symbolizes Cambodia's courage to defend its independence. The Khmer architectural features of the Four Arms Bay Theatre are unique and attract tourists from all over the world.

Phnom Penh is the transportation center of Cambodia and one of the main transportation hubs in Southeast Asia. In aviation, Phnom Penh International Airport has designed a passenger capacity of 4 million people and has direct flights with nearly 30 cities around the world (including 13 cities such as Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, etc.). In terms of railways, Phnom Penh-Sihanouk Province and Phnom Penh-Thai border city of Pobe were reopened in 2016. In addition, in order to alleviate traffic congestion in Phnom Penh, the municipal government restarted the public transport system in 2014. Now there are five bus routes all over the city, which bring more convenience and comfort for citizens to travel.

With closer exchanges and deepening pragmatic and friendly cooperation in various fields between China and Cambodia, Phnom Penh, the capital, plays an important role in inheriting the traditional friendship between the two countries and strengthening comprehensive strategic cooperation. At present, Phnom Penh has concluded friendly city relations with five cities in China, Tianjin, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Kunming and Hefei, and signed a letter of intent for friendly city relations with Changsha City, Hunan Province. In April 2014, the new bridge of China Aid Cambodia Friendship Bridge, Shuijinhua Bridge in Phnom Penh, was completed; in April 2017, the construction of China Aid Cambodia National Stadium in Phnom Penh was started; and in July, 100 buses assisted by the Chinese Government were put into operation in Phnom Penh. In the rapid development process of Phnom Penh, China has been giving strong support, but also for the vast majority of citizens in Phnom Penh to bring more tangible well-being.
