Cambodia has reaped significant benefits from the Belt and Road Initiatives, which help to expand infrastructure, particularly in the transportation sector, including as bridges, dams, airports, seaports, and rivers. These advancements will improve Cambodia's trade facilitation and competitiveness, resulting in development, economic growth, improved people's well-being, and the eradication of poverty. Cambodia is also committed to strengthening ties with Hong Kong and other commercial partners in the region and throughout the world. Minister of Commerce Pen Sorasak made these statements while virtually attending the sixth Belt and Road Summit on Enhancing Multilateral Cooperation, which took place at the beginning of this month.
The Belt and Road Initiative, known in Chinese and formerly in English as One Belt One Road, is a global infrastructure development strategy adopted by the Chinese government in 2013 to invest in nearly 70 countries and international organizations.
