Compass Cambodia report, September 1 - According to a press release, the Ministry of Economy and Finance plans to launch Phase II of its online business registration platform, commonly known as the "Single Portal," today.
In the initial phase of the business registration portal, which was launched on June 15, last year by government representatives, six ministries and state-run institutions were integrated. The finance, interior, commerce, and labour ministries, as well as the General Department of Taxation (GDT) and the Cambodian Development Council (CDC), were among those affected.
In Phase II, four new agencies will join the Single Portal, making more categories of business licenses and permits available for application on the platform, according to the finance ministry. The Real Estate Business and Pawnshop Regulator of the Non-Bank Financial Services Authority, as well as the ministries of industry, tourism, and telecommunications, are among the agencies mentioned. “This is part of a sweeping reform package of the upper echelon of the Royal Government of Cambodia, which was unveiled at the 18th Royal Government-Private Sector Forum on March 29, 2019,” the finance ministry said without elaborating.
According to a press statement published in conjunction with the Single Portal's first anniversary, 6,164 applications had been approved with a total capital of $2.631 million, and 810 more were awaiting final approval.
On the same day, 5,637 candidates had passed a preliminary review and had been "registered for reservation," pending the final review. Another 270 are undergoing preliminary evaluation, while one has been rejected. The Single Portal can be accessed at registrationservices.gov.kh.
